1 Melody, 12 Keys #5 – Bluesy Pentatonic

Category: Tag:

This is a simple major pentatonic scale with a passing tone between the 2nd and 3rd above the root. The passing tone is what gives it a ‘bluesy’ sound, and in fact the scale itself is a mode of the blues scale. This etude is a simple variation on the scale itself that is easily played in all 12 keys and makes a great part of your jazz-vibraphone warm up routine. Also included is a full transcription of the improvisation from the video.
